Frederick Green, the insane man
whouttempted to shoot his wife, was
taken to Bridgeport on the 10:10 o’clock

Norwelk Iron Works have adopted the

the week. One section going off one
week and another the next.
While placing a. belt on a pulley in
Raymond & Comstock’s hat factory
yesterday, George Sherwood, of East
N orwalk, slipped and fell upon the edge
of a tub and injured himself severely.
Native clams are said to be scarce on
account of the severe drain to which
the beds have been subjected. During
the past few months hundreds of un-
employed men have sought to earn a.
little by digging and selling clams.
Rev. Gerald E. Beard will preach at
the South Norwalk Congregational
church, to-morrow evening on, “Reve-
lations of Recent Saloon Hearings.”
There will be hymns of praise by choir
and congregation, and Mrs. Aura P.
Kennedy will sing two solos appropriate
to the theme of the evening;
General Superintendent Plutt and
Superintendent Shepard are conduct-
ing an investigation that is causing no
little commotion among the conductors
on the New York division of the Con-
solidated road. Conductor Klock has
been suspended pending further in-
quiry, and a. dozen others have been
subjected to the most rigid examina-
tion. Certain irregularities, it appears,
have become so common as to call for
executive action. The purpose of the
shaking up is not announced by the
officials, but the natural inference is
that financial differences are involved.

A Steamship \Vrecked.
LONDON, Feb. 10.-—The German steam-
ship lVoermann, of 1,301 tons burden, has
been wrecked at Nifu, Liberia. Everybody
on board of her reached land safely. Her
cargo is lost. The steamship sailed from
Hamburg on Jan. 11 for African ports.
Austrian Spy Sentenced In Russia.
ST. PETERSBURG, Feb. 10,—A dispatch
says that Colonel Gregorielf has been sen-
tenced to death by a. military tribunal
there. Colonel Gregorieif was convicted on
, the charge of being an Austrian spy.
