The Jerome May Banjo ‘club, of
Bridgeport, will give a concert at the
City Hotel this evening.
, The large lamp-post in front of the
Matthews place on West avenue was

ling Wheel club, of Bridgeport, Will
take a run to this city to-morrow.
Putnam Hose company last evening

Owing to the illness of one of the
witnesses the Hanlon case was adJourn-
‘ ed by Justice Barrett, yesterday, until
Wednesday afternoon, November 1.
Division No. 1, Ancient Order of
Hibernians, held their first sociable in
Arion hall last night, and a good time
was had by those present.
“Steeple Charlie” was in town today
on his way to Bethel to repair the
steeple of the Catholic church in that
place, which was damaged by the re-
cent gale. ‘

arrived home from the World’s fair,

The case of Edward S. Laidlaw, of
the South Norwalk Electric Eight
works, for nailing wooden braces to
trees, was before Justice Barrett, this
morning, and amicably settled.
Mayor Lockwood, Councilman Trow-
bridge and R. H. Golden, representing
the committee appointed to investigate
the matter of a paid fire department
for this city, went to Danbury this
morning to inspect the Babcock truck
used in that city.
It has been ascertained that after
securing Mrs. Hosea’s furniture and
locking it up in a room, Constable
Ireland ordered young Eames, of the
Eames Mf’g. 00., out of the house,
and upon refusing to leave the Con-
stable picked him up bodily and threw
him out. .
A cigar _maker and an artist had a
.row on Railroad Square last night,
which resulted in the artist getting a
blow in the face. The cigar maker was
arrested by oflicer Marley, but when
police headquarters were reached, the
artist refused to make a complaint, and
' the prisoner was released.
It is reported that Frank Lassen,land-
lord of the Calf Pasture hotel by the
death of an old uncle in Copenhagen,
Denmark, comes in for a share of his
father’s inheritance, which is said to be
ten or fifteen thousand dollars. Either
Frank or his brother Joe will go to
Denmark and look up the matter.
