An exchange says that Cennecticut' ls
inflicted with a band of doctors, who
visit the different localities looking for
the unwary. In one town they are
known as French doctors in another
English or Italian, etc. We would sug-
gest to persons needing the services of
a physician that they consult their
home doctors and give these roving
bands 9. wide berth.
Sunday evening a party of

Point, heard very loud and a naive
language on Peach island. This was
about 11 o’clock. In the neighborhood
of 12 o ’clock, the same party saw a cloud
of smoke arising from the island and
shortly after flames burst up in the air
illuminating the harbor. It was then
discovered that the small building on
the island was in flames. It is not
learned as to the extent of the damage
done. The fire was mistaken by pas-
sengers on an early train on the Con-
solidated read to be a steamer on fire
and it was so reported in Bridgeport.
