The ground for the new buildings of
the Soldiers’ Home in Noroton have

Aaron H. Woodhull, the comedian,
supported by an excellent company,
will present the laughable "comedy
“Uncle Hiram” at Music Hall Satur-
day evening.
The Italian laborers working on the
Consolidated railroad improvements
near Stratford claim that their wages
are unjustly held from them by the
contractors.
John Shay, who received a compound
fracture to his right arm by a blast,
was taken to the hospital Saturday
of Dr. Burke.
The remains of Cyril P. Benedict,
who died' in Washington D. 0., arriVed
on the Washington express Sunday
morning en route to Bethe], where the
interment will take place.
The Insurance adjusters have not as
yet succeeded in coming to an agree-
ment with Hallock Bros. It is thought
that a suit to compel the payment of
the policies will be commenced by the
Hallocks.
’ Word was received at police head-
‘ quarters to- day notifying the police of
the disappearance of Albion W. Nichols, .
of White Plains. He is supposed to
have wandered away while insane.
Nora E. Ryan, of East Norwalk, and
Isabel H. Beers, Maggie E. Murphy
and Anna T. Murphy of this city, are
among the recent visitors at the
World’s Fair to register at the Connec-
ticut State building. '
William Lawlor, the Mason, neglect-
ed to register his dog in the required
time, an after being notified to appear
in court visited the Town Clerk’s ofl‘ice
and took out a license. Ofiicer Conley
arrested him on Saturday and Justice
Barrett fined him 87 and costs. It is
needless to say that next year William
will register his dog' in time, and when
notified to appear in court another time
will promptly respond.
The oyster cultivators hereabouts are
of their grounds. From Port Chester
to Branford the examinations of the
beds made within the past few days by
growers, show that the shells and beds
are completely covered with spat. The
unusually good set is attributed to the
hot weather coming just in the ri ht
season of the year when the oysters
gun to make the spawn.
Admiral Foote post, G. A. B. ., of
New Haven, have unanimously adopt-
ed a resolution providing for the rais-
ing of a committee to inquire into the
matter of erecting a number of cottages
for the occupancy of inmates of the
Soldier" s Home at Noroton. The plan
is to erect cottages where the wives of
veterans can live with their husbands.
As many of the old soldiers are invalids,
it would be a blessing if their wives
could _be with them and take care of
them in their declining years”
