The remains of Aaron S. Hill who
died in New Haven, passed through
this city this morning, en route to Red-
ding, where they are to be interred.

Dot Sonwell, the East N orwalk snake
charmer, who was bitten by a snake in
a New York museum, Sunday, is not as
seriously injured as was at first thought
and the chances are new in her favor
for recovery.
The case against Philip and Ike Har-
ris, the junk dealers, of East Norwalk,
who are charged with receiving the
wire stolen by Hall and V'eitch, some
time since, was continued this morn-
ing in the police court until Wednes-
day, July 26th, at 10 a. 111.
After being entertained at Rot-on
Point yesterday,the Connecticut Week-
ly Press Association came to South
Norwalk and held their regular busi-
ness meeting in the parlor of the Ma-
hackemo hotel. The next meeting will
be held in Manchester, September 11.
A drunken man got ofi'a New Haven
train this morning at the depot and for
some time was unable to remember
where he wanted to go. He finally
came to the conclusion that the air of
Branchville would put new life into his
systemrso he was placed on a train for
that place. ,
Charles Palaukas was fined $3 and
costs by Justice Barrett last evening
for breach of the peace. Some weeks
ago Palaukas had a neighbor arrested
for the same offence, but the evidence
failed to convict him and he was dis-
charged. Yesterday the neighbor rc-
turned the compliment with the above
result. '
The authorities are in possession of a
list of the names of over 140 South Nor-
walk citizens who are the owners of
dogs and who up to date have neglected
to register them. A notice "will be sent
to all these persons giving them a week
longer in which to step up to the
Captain’s ofiice and register their
canines, and if they fail to do so in that
time, their names will be given to the
grand Juror for prosecution.
A boy giving his age as 14 years, his
name Leander Bolduc, and his resi-
dence N o. 5 Center street, Danbury,
asked Special Officer Knapp late last
night if he could stay in the station
house over night. He said he had left
his home in Danbury to get work at the
lock shop, and that he came down on a
freight train earlier in the evening.
This morning he promised Chief Voll-
mer that he would return to his home.
The meeting of the city council last
evening was .a lively one. After the
regular routine business had been
transacted the question of laying a
sewer throught Woodward avenue was
brought up. This evoked considerable
discussion and finally the matter was
postponed until the next meeting of
the council. The members of the
council, together with the Board of
Health will go over the proposed lay
out this afternoon upon the invitation
of Councilman Judson.
About 10 o’clock this morning Mrs.
Matthew J .Corbett, discovered an un-
known man in a second story bedroom
of her residence on Washington street.
She ordered him out and called to
Maypr George Lockwood, who was pas-
sing, to detain him until she could go
over the upper portion of the house
and see if anything was missing. Noth-
ing was found disturbed, however, and
the man, who said he was employed by
Frank Becker as a driver, and that he
had called for a case of beer bottles
which he had delivered at the house
Saturday evening, was let go after his
story had been investigated.
