Thomas Hall and Edward Veiteh, the
two highwayman who were bound over
to the Superior court yesterday, were
taken to the Bridgeport jail last even-
ing.

make her first Sunday excursion to Sea

The canoe races at Chimmons island
yesterday were sailed with a very light
wind. Thomas Barrington of the New
York 0. 0., won every sailing ,race in
which heentered, including that for
the Elliott Sailing TrOphy. a valuable
cup presented by William S. Elliott of
the Marine and Field Club. The re-
sults of the day were as follows : First
race, tandem paddling, decked canoes,
one mile straightway. Won by Archi-
bald and Fredericks, Ianthe C. C. ; sec-
ond race, sailing for the Elliott trophy,
nine miles around a triangle. Won by
Torment, Thomas Barrington, N. Y. C.
C; third race, sailing, upset, and manoe-
uvuring. Won by Barrington; fourth
race, special standing sailing, half a
mile. Won by Barring’ton ; fifth race,
sailing, two miles to windward and re-
turn. Won by Barrington.
The hurry scurry race, and one or
two special events will take place to:

.Wednesday - night will be Ianthe
night in camp. The successful Newark
Club will hold a camp fire to celebrate .
their yictories. They have won every
paddling race but one.
