depot yesterday morning to see the
new five—hour flyer pass through. The
new train was 19 minutes late.
. Minnehaha Division, S. of T., elec-
ted officers last evening. The newly
elected officers will be installed next
Monday night.
There was a bad break in the water
main near Garden street last evening.
For a while West avenue resembled5 a
small river. As soon as possible work-
men repaired the damages and the flood
subsided. .
Oscar Wolcott was arrested yester-
day. charged with stealing pieces 0
brass from the railroad company. J us-
tice Barrett continued the case until
Friday. Wolcott is employed as one
of the switcher crew.
It IS reported that an Italian labor er
attempted to assault a woman in the
woods near Five Mile River yesterday.
Her screams for help brought succor
before the man could accomplish his
design. He made good his escape.
As the Danbury train, due here at
5.13 o ’,clock came into the depot yes-
terday afternoon, a little girl barely
escaped being struck with the locomo-
tive. She started to run across the
track, and barely succeeded in doing so.
Some young “roughe” broke into the
barn of William Benjamin Saturday
night and took therefrom his horse and
wagon for the purpose of barring a
drive. When they returned, the wagon
and harness were demolished, and the
horse nearly dead. The parties are
known and arrests will follow unless a
settlement is made.
The entries for the ten- mile road
race, to be given on Thursday by the
Norwalk Wheel club, have closed. The
