J ., returned home this morningaf- ter a visit with relatives in this city. She was accompanied by Miss Ella Dauchey, who will spend two weeks in Newark. The base ball -game between the Crystals and R. & G.’s last Saturday, was not as finely played as was expected. The Crystals proved too strong for their opponents, defeating them by a score of 15 to 9. Assistant postmaster, John W. Dake, has sufficiently recovered from _ his attack of pneumonia, as to be able to come up street to-day. He is still very weak, but hopes to be able to resume his duties at the post-office in a few days. The curlers of Volk’s hat factory took Commodore Woodward’s sharpie, the Swordfish, down to one of the islands this morning, where they will hold their annual clam bake. It is needless to say that they will have a fine time. To-night is the night- fixed for the Piston Brounofl' concert, at Music Hall, and, judging from the press notices re- ceived from the newspapers in the va- rious cities in which the company has appeared, our music loving people will hear one of the finest concerts ever heard in our city.
