avenue will be completed today.
Uncas Tribe, No. 26, Improved Cr-

in Odd Fellows’ hall on South Main

Mr. Edward H. Flynn of this city,
will enter the law office of John J.
Walsh at the Bouough, to-morrow, for
a course of study preparatory to enter-
ing the Yale Law school, next Septem-
er.
Two young ladies of this city nightly
afi'ord plenty of amusement for the
crowd by their daring feats of equestri-
anism, greatl to the inconvenience of
unfortunate icyclists and pedestrians
who chance to get in their way.
Martin Anderson was arrested last
night for drunkenness. He depOSited
a cash bond as surety for his appear-
ance this morning. He did not appear,
however, and Justice Barrett continued
the case until this afternoon at five
o’clock.
While assisting in transferring freight
this morning, James Powers, thegate
tender at the Washington street cross-
ing, had his hand badly crushed, _in-
flicting a painful injury. A physician
dressed the injured member which is
now doing nicely. ,
It was quite amusing last evening'to
see a Knight of the road, who had
been. sleeping peacefully in one of the
freight cars below the depot, go tumb-
ling out when the switcher hitched 011
to the car and started off with it. The
fellow took a graceful tumble to the
earth below, and then, as if he were ac-
customed to being thus rudely awak-
ened, walked leisurely away, as if noth-
ing whatever had happened.
The two children of Bert Ayers, of
Smithville, recently had quite an ex-
pcrience. It seems that the children
had committed some slight misde-
meanor, and fearing the punishment
which would result, ran away, and re-
mained away from their home for four
days and nights, subsisting on what
food could be procured from the neigh-
bors. Constable Conley was notified
and'investigated the case. He found
that the‘lives of the children are not
too pleasant, judging from the senti-
ment of the neighbors. The children
were restored to their parents with‘the
understanding that they should be bet-
ter cared for in the future.

2 o’clock in the afternoon, on the first Monday,

the electors of said town to serve as Jurors in
the Superior Court, Court ct Common Pleas,
and in trials before Justices of the Peace in
said town for the term of one year from the
first dav of the followmg September.
