ic street hall next Monday evening.
The Nibbe Spectacular Company
will appear at Music Hall to-night.
The play is one of the best, and should
be greeted with acrowded house.
The spring opening at the millinery
of Miss Van Tassell, 85 Co. takes place
to-morrow and on Thursday. For a

The ball of the Scandinavian Society
' at Quittner’s halllast evening was well
attended. It passed off in an enjoyable
manner and the society will net a neat
sum therefrom.
Au adjourned meeting of the common
council was held last evening. New
lights were ordered at various parts of
the city, several petitions were received
and the meeting then adjouined.
The members of Douglass Fowler
Post, G. A. It. held an enjoyable bean
bake and dance at their hall on Wash—
ington street bridge last evening.

While out driving yesterday alter—
iioon Frank Baxter collided with a team
belonging to Davenport, the grocer.
Both wagons were badly damaged, but
neither drivers was injured. The dam-
age to teams, _ wagons and harness
amounted to about $23.
Fred Coleman went to the borough
this morning with a. Mercury photo-
graph coupon in his pocket. When he
returned he had left the coupon at
teadman’s photograph gallery. Fred.
is good looking and in a picture must
look decidedly pretty. His friends
heret anxiously await further develop-
snenvs.
The masquerade ball given at Music
Hall last evening by the South Norwalh
Banjo Club for the benefit Of the new
hospital fund, was not as successful as
had been expected. Those present en-
joyed themselves in a pleasing manner.
i-iowever, and it is hoped that the next
venture of the club will prove more
successful. Heine’s orchestra furnished
music, and Prof. Chas. Yost prompted.
Putnam Hose 00. had a trial rur
last evening. It was made for the par.
pose of testing their new nozzle, from
which great results were expected
The nozzle proved a big success, as,
on testing it, it was found that a fivc
year old boy could hold the nozzle,
which threw a solid stream of water 9
distance of 200 feet. Heretofore, il
would require the combined strength
of two men to hold the hose.
The lady costumer at Music Hall last
evening was much disatisfied at the
manner in which the Banjo Club treat-
ed her. They refused to accept the
committee suits on the plea that they
were tno small. The lady had been tc
considerable trouble and a large ex-
pense to come here and she felt thal
she had been unjustly dealt with. She
stated that the suits did fit the member:
