supper at their hall on \Vashington
street bridge this evening.
T. S. Donaldson will vacate his pres-
ent store on Washington street April
1st and enteninto a co-partnership with
J. H. Brown, of Washington street
bridge. '
Mr. Fred Burger has accepted a fine
position as general agent for the Star
Publishing Company of Jersey City
N. J. He will begin his new duties im-
mediately. '
The work of taking down the old
frame structure adjoining Jeremiah
Donovan Jr.’s store on Washington
street was begun this morning, prepar-
atory to the erection of the new build-
ing which Mr. Donovan proposes erect-
isg.
Mrs. Joseph Tammany of this city
has just returned from a visit with her
daughter Maggie, who is attending
school at Waterbury. Miss Tammany
is now ill with pneumonia, and has
just recovered from a severe attack of
scarlet fever. The young lady will be
brought home as soon as her condition
will permit. . .
The masquerade ball of Louisa
Lodge, Daughters of Hermann, at Ger-
mania Hall last evening, was a very
pleasant affair. A large number of
merry maskers assembled early in the
evening and enjoyed themselves right
royally until the early hours of mor-
ning. Heine’s orchestra furnished
music.
“Alderman” A. G. Judson has on
exhibition in his market one of the
original “Frogs of Windham.” It was
captured early in the year 1734 by
Dana Bissell while he was hunting soft
shell crabs off the coast of Belden Point,
and has grown to such an enormous
size as to nearly fill the tank in which
it is kept. The other “Windham
Frogs” will be seen at Music Hall on
the evenings of April 4th, 5th and 6th,
under the auspices of the Old Well H.

OUTLAWS ROB A BANK.

and Hand Over Money.
\VICIIITA, Kas., March ‘28.—Henry Starr
and a lialf- breed Indian named Newcomb,
leaders of a noted band of desperadoes in
the lndian Territory, robbed the Candy
Valley Bank at Caney, lies, of nearly
$5,003. The outlaws hitched their horses
without attracting attention.
At the point of their revolvers they
compelled Cashier Hollingsworth and
Clerk ll. B. Scurr to open the vaults and
empty the contents into bags which they
had brought with them. They then ran-
sacked the cash drawer, and finally cor-
railed a trio of citizens ‘.‘.'I10 had entered
to deposit funds, and, marching all the
victims into a back yard, locked them up,
while they themselves made their; escape
southward toward the Territory line.
An Old Conductor-Dead.
UTICA, N. Y., March 28.—-George Kin-
caid, for many years a conductor on the
(.‘eiitrnl, Delaware and Hudson, and Dela-
ware, Lackawanna‘and western Railroads,
died at his home in. Utica, aged 75 years.
He was a prominent member of the Order
of Railway Conductors, and had a Wide
acquaintance. ’
