Judge Barret had his first case this
morning. The prisoner was Charles
Williams, charged with drunkenness.
He was fined $2 and costs. As he had
no money he'was taken to Bridgeport
jail where he will do state duty for
some time to come. _
A small audience greeted Scott Mar-
ble’s Diamond Breaker at Music Hall
last evening. They were highly pleased
with the performance, however, and
all present agreed that the play was
worth of a much larger audience.
Miss telka Wardell as Rex Alden was
a favorite from the start as was also
Mr. M. L. Alsop who impersonated
Russell Shattuck. The team work of
Miss Julia West and Mr. C. E. Fore-
man was first-class and they were re-
peatedly-and heartily encored.

letter from Archbishop Satolli, Papal Le<
gate to America, congratulating Mr.
Cleveland on his accession to the Presi-
dency, “particularly in the name of His
Holiness, the Pope.” '
The De Walden Divorce Case.
LONDON, March 9.—Slr Edward Clarke
delivered the opening address yesterday
in behalf of the Baron Howard de Wal-
den in his suit for divorce. against his
wife, Lady Blanche, on the ground of
improper conduct with Capt. Winter and
Count Jean de Madre. A former valet of
' the Count de Madrc testified to intimacy
of the two, but admitted having received
money from the plaintiff’s 9oiicitors.
A Life Sentence for Dalton.
KANSAS CITY, Mo., March 9.—Emmct
Dalton, the last of the notorious Dalton
desperedccs, was arraigned at Independ-
ence, Kan, yesterday. He pleaded guilty
of murder in the second degree for kill-
ing citizens of Cofi‘eyville during the mid
lac-.t {all on the banks of that place, was
sentenced to the penitentiary for life and
in less than an hour later was on his way
there, guarded by four ofl‘lcers.
The Prime Minister at Belgrade in-
formed Queen Nathalie yesterday that
the present difficulties in the way of her
return to Servia will shortly be removed.

When we first installed our incandescent
service, we were compelled to make the rates
charged correspond, as nearly as possible, to
the service rendered, because, at that time,
there was no meter that could be used with
confidence that it was trustworthy and accu- .
rate. .
Meters are now made Which are perfect reg-
incandescent system, from and after April 1,
1893. '
Afterthe metersa‘re in we propose to furnish
light during the entire twenty-four hours-
The meter rates will be 20 cents per 1,000
Watt hours, with a discount of 10 per cent. cn
all bills paid at ouwfiicc on or before the 10th
day of each month.
‘ An additional discount of 10 per cent. will be
credited at the end of each twelve months, to
customers whose bills for incandescent light
exceed $100 for that time.
Our superintendent, Mr. Yeaton. will give
such further information as may be desired.
