BALTIMORE, Md., Feb. 27.—Blood may be
shed in Virginia waters this week. The
Maryland oystermen insist On deepoiling'
the oyster beds on the Virginia boundary,
and the Virginia. oyster police now
threaten to shébt to kill. Two Maryland
vessels have already been captured, and
the Virginia police fleet has been ordered
to the scene.

John J. Van Brunt a Suicide.

J. Van Brunt, an old resident of Setauket,
committed sylcide by cutting his‘throat.
He had been in poor health all winter and
recently became very despOndent. Mr.
Van Brunt’s brother committed suicide
several years ago by drc‘fivning.

Prrrsnuua, Pa. Feb. 27. —-“D00" Wyck-
off, charged with complicity in the
Loechberg murder, is confined in the Kit-
tuning jail. On the way mobs provided
with ropes tried to get at the prisoner
and lynch him.

ROYALTON, Minn, Feb. 27.—Rey. J. J.
waymer, formerly pastor of the M. E.
Church here, but recently a preacher in
charge at Milaca, and Mrs. M. M. White,
for a long time in the millinery business
at this place, have eloped. Mr. Way'mer
leaves a large family, composed of a wife
and four children.
Impaled Himself on a Hot Poker.
COLUMBUS, 0., Feb. 27.—~Conrad Zapf, a
mechanic, 45 years old and demented,
escaped from his home and was locked in
the station house at Grovcport for safe-
keeping. Some time during the night he
heated a poker red hot, placed it against
his body and impaled himself upon it.
He was dead when found.
Still Filing Their Libels.
NEW YORK, Feb. 27.——Eight additional
libels have been filed in the United States '
District'Court against the vessels of the
United States and Brazil Mail Steamship
Company. During the last three days 51 '
libels have been filed representing claims
amounting to $155,450.

sented in the Massachusetts Supreme
Court in the case of William (Jay, the

Superior Court, in giving their decisions
and instructions, had failed ‘to put them
in writing. Justice Allen denied the
petition. Coy will doubtless be hanged
next Friday. *
