Several well known sports from this
city attended the fights at the Coney
Island Athletic Club last evening.

taurant, after a very severe illness.

transaction of routine business, the
meeting adjourned.

- to his home on B. B. Place with a very
bad threat. Genial Ed. Sisserson fills

7 .J. C. Wilson’s hat factory is closed
for a. few days, presumably, on account
of business in New York, which neces-
sitates the presence of the heads of the
different departments in the factory:
. The musical and athletic entertain-
ment to be given during intermission
at the S. N. A. C. sociable Thursday
evening promises to be of a high or—
der, and will no doubt excel any of
the preceeding ones.
Our Hungarian friends made merry
at Germania Hall last evening, the oc-
casion being a‘ball giVen by the Huge-
rian society. The Gypsy band furnish-
ed music and all present enjoyed them-
selves right royally.
' The cases of Wm. Lincoln, the ex-
pressman, and John White, hisassist.
ant, came up esterday before Justice
Townsend. incoln and White were
found guilty of stealing Junk from the
Hebrew dealers, and were bound over
to the next term of the Superior Court
under bonds of $200.
QB. S. Wilson, high sheriff of Ben-
nin'gton county, Vermont, arrived in
this city last night with requisition
papers for the self-confessed murderer,
Henry McDowell, or Conroy, as he af-
terwards admitted was his name, and
the prisoner was taken away this morn-
ing by Sheriff Wilson and Chief Nash.
The prisoner is evidently insnae.
. .The sale of tickets for the play
“Down by the Sea,” which is to be
presented at Music Hall Tuesday even-
ing, February 14th, by local talent, for
the benefit of the new hospital fund,
has been very large. The charts will
open at Plaisted’s and Hale’s drug
stores to-morrow morning at seven
o’clOck, when the tickets may be ex-
changed for reserved seat coupons.
