accompany them, the chances are that
they will make a good catch.
Fred Malcolm was arrested last night
for drunkenness. This morning, be-
fore Justice Townsend, he was fined
33.00 and costs. Not having any money,
he was taken to Bridgeport jail this
noon.
The Young Men’s Debating club§met
last evening at the residence of Mr.
Fred. H. Rowan on South Main street.
The debate was decided in favor of
Mr. Charles P. Helmer, whose oppo-
nent was Mr. George H. Vosburg. The
. meeting was a very interesting one.
Mr. John Steigmiller has leased the
basement under J. P Brummer’s ton-
sorial parlors, which he is having fitted
up for a sportinfiigallery to be opened
in a few days. r. Steigmiller is the
gentleman who conducted the rifle
range at Boton Point last season and
w111,no doubt, make a success of his
new venture.
M. Nash, who for some time conduc-
ted the shoe manufacturing and re-
pairing business under Brummer’s bar-
ber shop, has formed a partnership
with Mr. Chas. Dann, an old experi-
enced cobbler, and the new firm will
conduct business in the building for-
merly occupied by Jacob M. Layton as
a real estate office.
