'An adjourned meeting of the com-
mon council will be held this evening.
The council will take action in the mat-
ter of confirming Samuel McGowan for
chief engineer of the fire deparment.
Atramp dog has been around our
at 'eets to-day, snapping at whoever he
met, and biting pieces out of sev-
eral persons clothing. This tramp
should be put out of the way before
somebody is bitten. .
At Music Hall to~morrow evening
will be presented one of the very best
variety performances now traveling.
Fields and Hansons certainly have
~ some “drawing cards” and should be
greeted with» a crowded house.
Hamsen and Guner Ammerson, two
Swedes, were arrested Saturday even-
ing for drunkenness. This morning
before Justice Townsend, the two
brothers plead guilty and were fined
$1.00 and costs each, which they paid.
Cigar Makers’ Union, No. 26, have
passed reSolutions to the efl'ect that
theme-nbers thereof will use none but
Union made shoes. since the shoe-
makers’ union of the town of Norwalk
have adopted a label whereby their
shoes can be designated. ‘
A lad named Robbie Gregory while
coasting on Clay street, Saturday, was
run into by another lad and quite se-
verely injured. He was afterward tak-
en with a fit. He was carried into a
house near by and later reCovered
sufficiently to be taken home.
Mrs. Edward Quitner. was run into
and quite seriously injured by a‘doubie
ripper on Clay street hill Saturday
evening. Mrs. Quitner was crossing
the street at the corner of Clay and .
Franklin streets when, the ripper
struck her, knocking her to the ground.
The injured Woman was picked up and
carried to her house. Dr. Burke was
then summoned and made an examina-
tion of the lady’s injuries. It was found
that her ankle had been badly sprained.
Her foot was attended to by Dr. Burke
and she is now doing as nicely as could
be expected.
