The excellent sleighing of yesterday
brought out our ‘good racing stock,
and West avenue, from the Catholic
church to Grove street. was the scene
of many a good lively brush between
some of our best trotters.
People living in the vicinity of Tolles
street are of the opinion that the fog
horn has been moved to a point near
that thoroughfare. Such is not the
case, however, as it is only “Jack”
Flint practicing on his new bass born.
In order to increase the membership
the South Norwalk Athletic Club has.
for a limited time, taken 011' the initia-
tion fee for joining, and all young men
who are interested in athletic sports
should not fail to take advantage of
this opportunity to join one of the best
athletic clubs in the state.
About five o’clock yesterday after-
noon smoke was seen issuing from the
rooms at N o. 33 South Main street, in
the apartment used an employment
agency by C. B. D’Artois. Chief Mc
Gowan was summoned and went fine
mediately to the house. A thorough
search failed to disclose anything that
looked like fire so the search was aban
doned. Soon after it was learned that
tenants in another part of the house
had been thawing out water pipes, and
this caused the trouble.
