Cove street, East Norwalk, will spend

MeSsrs. T. S. Vanderhoef, Samuel
Beatty, Dr. Many and John G. Lock-
wood left this port this morning, with
Capt. Jennings. They are after a good
time and blackfish. It is the right par—
ty for a good time and they have the
right bait for blackfish.
It is stated here that Hon. A. H. By-
ington fished for four hours yesterday
and caught thirteen fish. And it is
further stated that the reason he caught
no more is because he would not con-
sent to his son George, who is a mod-
ern fisherman, selecting the bait. It is
211% further stated that Mr. Byington
kept the whole party in good humor
between bites.
At 5 o’clock last night the floor un-
. der the range at Mrs. C. A. Knight’s
boarding house on South Main street,
was discovered to be on fire, and it is
thought had been burning all day. The
fire was extinguished with a few pails
of Water. The range had become de-
ranged, so to speak, and is being re—
arranged by Plumber Meeker.
Builders are figuring on the plans for
a new hat shop for Wm. B. Hubbell,
on ”Woodward avenue. The building
will be L shaped 06x55. The plank
shop will be 33x25 and the coloring shop
21x29. The building in which are to
be located the boiler and drying rooms
will be of brick and three stories high.
According to the plans it will be as well
appointed a hat shop as there is in
town. The estimated cost is between
$7,000 and $8, 000.
Last evening, while playing in John
Snyder’s yard on Monroe street, a 16
month old child of John Drescher, who
lives opposite, was severely bitten on
the back of the neck by a Newfound’
land dog owned by Snyder. Dr.
Clark cauterized the wound agd thinks.
the child will get along all right. We
understand that last Spring the same
dog bit Chris. Michel’s child, and had
previously bitten one of Snyder’s chil-
dren. , The dog ought to be shot be-
fore he bites any one else.
Funeral director J elliffe had an un-
usual experience yesterday. He had
engaged to attend the funeral of achild
of Mrs. Elizabeth Ritzer of Roton Hill,
and was on his way to the house with
the’casket when he was approached by
a party who asked him if his little one
who died this morning could not be
buried in the same casket. The party
proved to be a relative of Mrs. Ritzer
and she expressing a willingness both
were placed in the same cas “et. There
was a profusion of flowers and Mr.
J elliife said the sight was a pretty one.
