Mr. Albin Malmo’ S arrival 1n this coun-
try. Mr. Malmo is a native of Loben-
stein. Germany.
The drama of “The Last‘ Loaf”
with a well drilled cast, will be present-
ed by the U. G. T. R. A., on the eve-
ning of May 20th.

John Scully, the genial secretary of
the South Norwalk Athletic club, is
paying his parents a visit at Towners
Station, New York.

A lad named Charles Arlington fell
off one of the piers near the steamboat
wharf this morning and had a narrow
escape from drowning.

Business of unusual importance will
be brought before the regular meeting
of the Hat Finishers Association next

tendance is requested.
The spring trade of hatting in this
city has been remarkably good. And
it is stated that even now Crofut &
Knapp, the Bentwood and J. C. Wilson
& Co. are yet shopping men.
Says a correspondent : “The Penn-
sylvania leglslature is considering a
law prohibiting the sale of oysters in
summer. The only objection to this
prohibition is ’that summer has an 1' in
it.”

morning, as a runaway, came here late
last night in search of her child. She
thinks the child is afraid to come home
for fear of punishment for truancy.
There was no truth in the story of the
child to the effect that her mother had
put her aboard of a train for New York. I

The Fairfielcl County Sunday School
convention will be held 1n this city on
Tuesday, May 11. A11 Sunday School
workers are invited. Rev. E. Jay Tea-
garden, Of Danbury, will deliver an ad-
dress ‘on “System in Bible Study, ” and
Rev. E. G. Fullerton will present the
subject of “A Broader View.” The
paramount idea of the convention is to
bring into prominence the idea of bet-
ter teaching in Sunday Schools, to
which end a practical programme has
been arranged.

Latest advices from Charles L. War-
ren, .a former bookkeeper at Crofut &
Knapp’ s shop, ieport him as improving
in health, so much so that he has ac-
cepted a lucrative position in the south.
Some weeks since he had several severe
hemorrhages, but the attendant phy-
sician says they were from the stomach,
and seemingly they were rather of a
benefit than otherwise, as he has since
gained three pounds in weight. At
the time of writing he was at Lookout
Mountain.

At the business meeting of the U. G.
T. R. A. last evening, it was decided to
hold “The Last Loaf” entertainment on
the evening of May 20. After next Sun-
day the regular meetings of the Asso-
ciation will begin at 3. 30 p. m. on that
day, and at 8 p. m. on 14 riday evenings.
