to the old parties. They are made up of
three elements: the temperance meii.t!ie
indifferent. and the iiicoi‘rigihles who
live by and upon whisky and beer.
Now let me show you how the. liqnir
men in the two old parties get their way.

They do it by means of the old parry oi~
gariizatione. The two parties are evenly
balanced. The temperance-men prUllllse
to stand by the party through thick and
thin. but the liquor men threaten to dc-
sert if iheir demands are not met. Let

ly allow the passage or enforcement of
any law that diminishes the saloon-keep-
