for this riddle called existence. The

blood. It needed moral regeneration.

beat of a nation’s imperiled honor, the

alarm followed the awful tragedy of
Sumter, the noble, brave and true of
this land were ready. They pressed to

dignity of manhood. the integrity of

fidelity to you and me, won the most
lavish praises, the brigheot laurels,
