A Finlander. name unknown. who
was committed to Bridgeport jail as a
trump, killed himself oti \Veduesday by
cutting his throat with a clasp knife.
The knife with which he killed himself
was stolen while he was employed in
the kitchen peeling «potatoes. When
found he was bleeding profusely, and he
lived only a few minutes longer.
A new sizing machine has been put iri
thea sizing mill. Mr. Palmer, the in-
ventor, has made many improvements in
the working parts of this machine; and
has now got it so that: it works perfectly.
It gives the hot body the same work as
hand labor, and does the work to per
fection. The machine will soon be in~
troduced in Danbury.

Black Rock it was run into by the
schooner War Eagle oll' Westport, and
those on board barely escaped with

The trouble between Hiram Lodge. A.
l“. &. A. M. of New Haven and the Grand
Lodge of the state is developing. On
Monday notice was served on Hiram as a
lodge and eight or ten members as indi-
vidual Masons. summoning them to ap-
pear before the grand officers at Hart-
ford. April 20th, and show cause why
liirnm‘s charter should not be revoked
and her members expelled from the or~
der. The charges against the individual
members are for various offences; against
the secretary for retusing to turn over
his books and for writing it disrespectful
letter to the Brand master; charges
against the committee of Hiram appoiut~
ed to fight theGraud lodge for conspiracy
against the Grand lodge. The oflicers of
‘liram for occupying their chairs and
working contrary to the instructions of
the Grand lodge. The officers of Hiram
lodge any that they shall ignore the sum.-
mons of the Grand ladge and withdraw
from the body: that they will continue
to “make” masons at greatly reduced
fees and roceed to the organization of
an independent grand lodge under their
ancient charter and invite all the lodges
in the state to join her.

present will agree that Mr. Bolton's
“realistic travels“ deserve all the encorn~
innis that have been bestowed upon
them. Let us hope that we may see him
again next season and that we may have
the pleasure of attending, not one lecture,
but one of the series of lectures which
he is prepared to give if desired. Noth‘

The Meeting of the linkers and Finishers.
The following are the Resolutions puss-
ed at the recent meeting of the Joint
Board of Directors of the International
Hat Makers‘ and Finishers‘ Association:
Resolved. That we, the Joint. Board of
Directors of the International Associa-
tion. recommend that the alliance now
existing between the makers and finish-
ers be further strengthened by the enact-
ing of a law in joint session. which will
bring about such result, and that. there
be a committee of four makers and four
finishers appointed, which committee
shall have power to consult with the Na-
tional Bat Manufacturers Association,
for the purpose of making and defining
the law: governing our connection with
the manufacturers. and recommending
better laws for the government of makers
and finishers jointly; and be it further
Resolved, That this committee shall
also proceed to Newark for the purpose
of prevailing on the Newark finishers to
recede from the position they havetaken.

to previent any further rupture in the
International Association. ,
