loone. the women of America are doing
a work little appreciated. It is stated
that the \\'. C. 'I‘. U. numbers 900.000.
\Vhat a power for good! Think of the
influence these women have upon their
husbands. sons. and brothers.
One time while travelling. I had to.
leave a trunk line and wait at a station
to take a small road that crossed its,
track. The little hovel that answered
the purpose of a station had notices
-Jcratched upon its. walls of a character
that gave the traveller to understand that
it was very doubtful when a trait) \vould
come along. After a little inquiry I
learned that there was more truth than
poetry in the written lines: and tirade up
niv mind to. look out for “fodder.“

It might look funny: but there would
be a power in 200.000 women armed
with broomshinten! on destroying that
which is wrecking their homes. I do not
favor the raising of such an armed force;
but it Would bent moral striusorivfor a

conductors. and told him that the train
must wait until the trunks that belonged

and without further idle talk secured the

am glad to say that the train arrived at

attempted that thing I would have been
told to stand aside until the morning.

windows no such accumulation of air is
possible, for the whole height: of the
room is swept. by the currents, as the
dust. of the room/is swept: with a broom.
Low ceilings have also the advantage of

fuel. be above. does not agree with the
generally acce ted idea of the height of
rooms in dwel inns. but the authority is
good and well worthy of consideration
