John E. Fuller says it was twenty~
eight years ago September 13 that he
became associated with the New York I3
New Haven railroad company. During
that period he has had uninterrupted
chargo of tho bridges of the road. some
of which have been twice rebuilt, nota-
bly that over the llousatonic river. He
has seen wood and timber give place to
cast iron, and cast iron to that which is
wrought. All work on the road with
which bridges or the handling of timber
is associated has been in his hands. He
is at this time the boss. so to speak. of
the great wharf extension now going
forward for the Consolidated road in this

' hose scenes. with the exception of the
garden. have fancy doors. There is also
a new landscape curtain. and the wings
have been repainted. This work has
been doiw by Ilrillith Morgan. the noted
scone artist of New York. and will give
new attractiveness to the hall. The
lower dressing rooms have been carpeted
and tlII-ir walls painted. The work of
renovation has been complete, and has
been done at a large outlay of time and
money. The hall is now (hora beautiful
and comfortable than ever. and the
liberality of its owners in placing it in so
fine a condition. we believe. will be ap-
preciated. ,
The opening play was the famous Irish
Drama of “Arrah-NwPogue.“ in which
Kate Claxton appeared as “Arrah” and
C. A. Stevenson as “Shaun.“ supported
bv a strong company. There was a fine
audirnce. which .was highly pleased
with the presentation of the play. The
scenic accessories which the company
brought with them. combined with the
new scenery of the hall greatly heighten-
ed the cffocta.
State Sunday School Convention.
The biennial state convention of Con~
necticut Sunday School workers will be
held in Meriden, November 3—5, be-
beginninz W’eduesday afternoon. and
closing Friday noon. This promises to
be one of the argest and most rofitable
state conventions ever held in mnnecti-
out, Topics of interest and importance
are to be discussed. Among the rod».

The impression seems to be growing
that Mr. Seymour is likely to get the
democratic nomination for governor.
There is of course some doubt \vhrther
he would accept it. but there is no doubt
whatever that if he did accept it. he
would have a walk-over.
