place at Cedar Point on \\'cdncsduy last.

urcmcuts and the adjustment of num-
bers the start was mttdc. the report of a
pistol indicating the word "go." Eleven
bouts started. boats in the first. second
and third classes taking the word at the
same time. the cabrigged boats of the
fourth c‘ass getting away first.
The scene after the start with nearly
one hundred white sails, was very beau~
tiful. The .\riel. Capt. John L. llurs
bank‘s bout. the Isis. Quinnipiac. and
several large craft kept within respect-
ful distance of the contestants front start
to finish. ,
In the first class there was but one eu-
try. 1n the second there was two con~
te.~tants-—-F. llurritt‘s “ Broad Bill,“ and
Stanley Lownde‘s “Sneak.” The inter-
est and excitement of the race c'Pntered
on these boats. and the “ Broad Bill“
won the race as will be seen below.
Mr. Burritt sailed his own acht and
handled her in line shape. 8 is very
well satisfied with her sailing qualities
and well he may be. At ter the victory
