The New Milford Gazette comes out
with another contribution to the list of
possible new railroads. It says:—
Provided that the Housatonic. railroad
company decides to build the branch
road from New Milford to Lake

idea for the company to purchase the
Shepaug railroad. tear up the track and
ties of the lower or non-paying portion
of that road, and use them in the con-
struction of the proposed branch road.

three miles farther to Bee Brook station
on the Shepaug road. The few miles of
track between that station and Litch~
field could be retained. and the laying
portion of the Slicpauiz road won (1 not
bedisturbed. From Litchfield a track
could be laid to Winsted—distant
about fifteen miles, and thus a junction
would be formed with the Connecticut
Western road. and easy communication
be opened with Hartford. Springfield.
etc. \Vhy is this scheme not as good as
the other schemes which are being
goasiped about ?
