chairman and Adjutant 1‘. ll. Foster of
New liaven secretary. decided to form
twelve cantons which will be known as
the cantons of the First Regiment of
l'niformed l‘atriarchs. I. O. H. F.. of
Connecticut. .\s this act will disqualify
the battalion otlicers elected at the last
field dav of the regiment. the meeting
resolved topeiitioii the sovereign body
to allow the same officers to serve under
the new arrangement. These otlicers

have been $795.24. and the prospects are
that the lodge will have as prosperous a
year in 1886 as any in its previous his-
tory. Great credit is due the officers for
the very thorough manner in which
they have rformed their duties and
the efforts t ey have lands on behalf of
the Inernl interests of the lodge. Its

The meeting was harmonious and
pleasant in every particular. Manufac-
turers and jatirneymeii. who in days past
have had bitter trouble. met together to
discuss the business of hinting. to make
mutual concessions. and in the spirit of
“even handed companions.“ to make
rules for the future management of
shops. that would prevent trouble in the
future and be forthe ad 'tintage of each.
The points of agreement. as near as
we can learn. were as follows:
1. Prices to be fixed at the beginning
of the trade. which shall hold for six
months.
‘2. “Shop calls“ to be discontinued ex-
cept to arrange priCes. All ditliculiies
to be settled by a committee in each shop.
3. Should there be a disagreement as
to prices between employers and men a
couiiiiittee of arbitration to Settle the
same. whose decisions shall be final.
4. Existing contracts to be carried out
between employers and men.
5. All men who have never held cards
in the associations. to be admitted by
paying the usual initiation fee. .
be manufacturers appeared wuh de-
finite propositions. The committee of
journeymen were empowered only to
meet the manufacturers, see what ur-
rangements could be made to have all
shops in Da' bury “fair," and make such
recommendations to the association no
udgment should dictate.
\t‘edneedny evening there was held
two of the most important meeting: of
the ‘ourneymen butters that has ever «-
oem ed in this butting town. The flu-
ishera were at Benedict‘s Hall. the unk—
ero at theb‘oufl House. The meetings
afternoon
were very largely attended. There was
at tirst a great difference ofopinion as to
what was best to be done. bill in theeiid.
after a fu‘l explanation by the committee
appointed to meet the manufacturers.
good judgment pit vailed. and the long
looked for consolidation of independent
and fair shops was consummated. The
run 5 were nearly unanimous. The only
difference was as to how those who hid
in times past held cards in the associa—
tion should now be admitted to member-
ship. This was happily arranged.
Bygones are to be bygone-s. All meni~
hers who never held cards in the asso—
ciatioii are to he admitted by paying the
usual initation fee. Those who have
held cards are to pay what their dues
and assessments would have been had
they paid the same when due during the
last four years.
