I have chanced to meet. but have
never expressed an opinion, because I
had none to express. owing to the fact
that l have never considered the subject

issued a circular signed “Joseph Ander-

retary: J. \\'. Brodin. John \V. Lamb.
special committee." asking for a special
contribution for carrying forward the
work of the society. It invites the chil-
dren and all members of Sunday schools
in Connecticut to make a New Year‘s of-
fering of five cents each. on Sunday.

pended in evangelistic work. such as
gathering neglected children into Sunday
schools. establishing mission schools
where they are needed. and supplying
the destitute with the llible. This circu-

peal to the Connecticut Masons asking

Mr. T. S. Gold. secretary of the State
Agricultural society, was one of those
who experimented this season by send-
ing apples to England. He shipped 124
barrels. which sold for $256.90. The
expenses were $178.45, leaving net
receipt: of $78.45, or 68 cents a barrel.
At this figuring, no deduction had been
nude {or the barrels. They were esti-
mated It 41; cents each, which would
leave the. net proceeds at ‘36; cents a
barrel.
