The trial races between the Boston
yacht I‘iiritan and the New York yacht
l‘riscilla ended Monday. the Puritan
winning two out of three. There will be
no more trial races. It will not be known
till Sept. lst which of these fast v ‘els
will be selected for the honor of defend—
ing the America cup against the English
cutter ileiieslii but it is generally believed
it will be the Puritan. These races will
be siiilcd Monday. Sept. '1‘. \\‘wliiesday,
Sept. 9. and if a third race is necessary.
Friday. Sept. II. The first race will be
twenty miles to windward and back
outside of Sandy Hook. The second
race over the usual course of the New
York yacht club. The third race. if it
takes place. will be over a triangular

rind although the Puritan and Priscilla
have shown phenomenal speed, there
are still grave apprehensions that the
one selected may not be swift enough
