check for $100.00. subscribing for 100

of our customers we will raise subscrip-
tions at our store (acknowledging the
same in the papers of Bridgeport) and
delivering to each subscriber one of your
miniature few-smiles of this greatest
work of modern times at the price fixed
by your committee. one dollar. and give

Last Monday \VIllie M. Searies. Jr.
took Miss Emma \Vasliburne of New
York and Miss Adda llavvcs of Roxbury.

intended to be gone about an hour. and

Samuel E. Olmotcnd.
Samuel E. Olmstead died Tuesday
morning from the injuries received a
few days before by being thrown from
a-wagon. and the funeral will take place
at St. Paul‘s church§tc~morrow afternoon
at 3 o‘clock. Mr. Olmstead was born in
\Vilton, March 21th. 1824. and came to
N'orwalk when he was thirteen years
old. His busmms career began as clerk
in the dry store of Clock. Grumman
(30. Five years later he -, went into the
grocery business with his brother Shep-
hen. At 83 he married the eldest daugh—
ter of Jonathan Camp. E9 was one of
the pioneers of the Danbury a Nor-walk
Railroad. and was one of itsdirectora for
many years. He was one of the first
petitioner-s for the Parallel railroad. and
has persistentlv labored for me comple-
tion of the enterprise. He was a busi-
ness man in Its fullest mono, and in In

three hours on the Jersey side. started
for his destination, which by the aid of
acarriago chartered at Little Falls he
reached some four or five hours late. (in
examining his time table he found that
a train would leave Little Falls for New
York at 5 p. m.. and keeping the oar-
riage. reached the station about 10 min-
utes before 5. and was about discharging
the driver when the station agent lll‘
formed him that there were no mori~
trains going east that. day. He pulled
out his time table to show him such a
train was down on it, when the agent
told him that the 5 o‘clock train was on-
ly a Sunday train, and sure enough so it
was headed. Our ex~oflicial then re»
chartered the carriage. drove to Patter
son. 7 miles. took another line to Jersey
City, and safely reached home about 10
p. to. After such a day of doing wrong.
