the Pyramids and the Nile. illustrated by
stereopticon views. and an address by

rience. well fitted for the position. There
ought to be something indhe air of the
Benedict shop to produce a good stiff
hat. for it was there that Dunlap‘s bats
were made for years. I retraced my
steps toward the depot. and running the
gauntlet of the striking jours went down
to the C. & K. No. 2. where I found
work going on and all hands on deck.
but weary and worn with much excite—
ment and watching. From there I called
on J. J. Asch at hishandsonicncw form-
ing and fur cutting mill. and \‘as so im-
pressed both with the proprietor and his
factory that 1 send a full description.

The majority of the journeymen seem
to be intelligent men. and it is beyond
comprehension that they should be will-
ing to be led by such blatherskites as
Ellendorf and others who pose as friends
and defenders. whose sole object is no-
toriety. and like vampires to exist at the
expense of honest and well meaning but
misguided men. It has been stated that
the manufacturers have expressed a de~
termination to break up the societyJVrth
this they have nothing to do;their deter-
mination is to henceforth conduct their
own business in their own way and
under their own management. They
propose to hire batters and not societies,
