Tho picturcs. thrown upon a large scrocn
by the steroopticou. were without excep~
tion the most beautiful we have over
soon: being particularly noticeable not
only in bringing out the minute details
of the near landscape, but for the extent
and clear definition oftbe distant moun-
tain peak and canon. To a great do-
grce this was due totho wonderful clcar~
nose of the atmosphere in that region,
and also to the skill of the photographer.
The views of tho tieysers and Boiling
Springs, were especially fine; we have
never seen, among all the reputed ic~
tures of these national wonders. any t int
equaled them either in the various points
from which the were shown, or in the
many phases 0 activity and quietude.
The coloring also was marvelously
true to nature, when we take into con-
sideration the limits placed upon the
artist by the laws of optics. One after
having seen’ and heard Mr. Marshall’s
lecture. would almost feel that they had
really visited the actual spot, without
the fatigue and expense of the journey.
Thousands of people in the east. although
knowing of this “\\'onderlaud,” yet
without such men as Mr. Marshall,
would live on in utter ignorance of its
wondrous beauty. Taken as a whole it
was indeed an “Evening in “'ondor-
land.“ ‘At. the close of the lecture Mr.
Marshall kindly presented to several of
the ladies some very pretty specimens of
minerals from the region of the Yellow-
stone.

has boon circulated by a gentleman well
known to the community, and more or
less distantly connected with the strik—
ing firms, that the men who have started
the new (to-operative factory have separ-
ated from the trade and calculated to
run a foul shop. It is also stated by the
same person that E. II. Bush and the
other members of the second co—o -
fire company will likewise run an inde
pendent factory. The public may as
well understand now as at any other
time, that-every one of the men. who in
a co-operattve factory see the best solu~
tion of the labor problem. are as loyal to
thetrade as ever, and that when their
factories are running, which will be in
about six weeks from date. “none but
Union men and girls need a ply."
A cause which seeks to bolster itself
up by such groundlessand malicious as-
sertions. must be weak indeed.
