It seems too bad that a club composed
in the main of good players should,
through the luck of competent managi-

the diamond: It is folly for a manager
to place men in positions for which they
are totally unfit, and expect. them to
guard these positions advantageously.
This was evident on Saturday when the
manager of the Quicksteps committed
third base. the most important position
of the in field, to the care of men who
were unable to hold a thrown ball, much
