with engine and boiler. would cost about

15 to 30 cents per ton. which, I believe,
is less than the coat of sand or gravel.

On some of the thoroughfares there

nus. Being small it is almost impossible

larger and more suitable ones.
The gutters should be unobstructed.
It is the practice of some to placetimbera
in the gutters. over which to drive to
their private roadways. This can easily
be avoided by properly constructed

The practice of depositing garbage and
ashes‘oti the streets is a violation of I
city ordinance : and merchants ought to

use salt on their tracks. or in removing
snow therefrom to ei danger and impede

The financial condition of the water
works is excellent. and must be gratify-

CLOCK.
The city pays 95 per annual for the
care of the depot clock. The present
condition of the diala makes it very dif-
ficult to discern the time. I recommend
that they be repainted and regilded.
