wulk on Friday last in his eighty-fifth

received his diploma of M. D. from Yale

excopt two ycars spent in Maryland.
His death leavos but one survivor of the
medical class of 1889 of Yale. the ven-
erable Dr. C. S. Thomson of New Haven.

msnia Hotel, oppositc horse-railway dc-
pot. on Sunday last. The name of the
organisation Will be the Vedslis Society.
Next Sunday the oficcrs of the club will
be elected. They propose to occupy
rooms in the Gazette building.

boy. wont to New Canaan, where he at-
tended school ayenr. He then entered
upon his business career by becoming
clerk in the store of Seymour Coinstoclt.
At 14 be loft the employ of this concern
and wont to Amenia. N. Y.. where he
remained in school about three years, of.

and in 1880 became a partner in the firm
of Comatock, Rogers is: 00.. composed of

ness was what is known as a general
country store, in which everything is
kept, or attempted to be kept. that is
needed to meet the demands of the local
trade. In 1850 Mr. Seymour Com-
stock had found it uccesssary to employ
s cutter to do custom tsiloring. sud
shortly after commenced to manufac-
ture mdy-mstlo clothing. and began the
sale of these goods in the vicinity and
on the line of the Harlem Railroad. by
moons of wagons thst carried also it line
of dry goods. Many orders for clothing
were at that time taken from ample,
and the goods made up and delivered by
wogona. In 1870 Mr. Comstock took an
Interest in the business of the. tobscoo-
uists, Thus. Hoyt at Go. New York city,
sad in 1877 Mr. Rogers rctosinsd us the

nuns being changed to H. 8. Rogers

time. we need only to say that that
which is to be seen here. may be seen in
counterpart at either of the Comeback
Brothers stores in the borough or city.

only a small stock can be kept at the
factory. The conveniences for the dis-
play and handling of the manufacture
