charge by the Consolidated road for con-
veying three small lathe: from Provi-
dence. R. 1., to this city. The machinery
was made in Mansfield. Mai-18.. for a
manufacturer in this town. It was
shipped at Mansfield on the Boston and
Providence railroad, who conveyed it to
Providence. R. I.,—a distance of about
forty miles—where that rood connects
with the Consolidated. The charge
mode by the Boston and Providence
com r3 was 1.70. The charge made
by t a coach ated company for bring-
ing the same to this city from Provi-
dence—without change. using the some
cor—a distance of nbout one hundred
and fifty miles. was 012.60. The bill was
d under protest. and the gentlemnn
on been unable to get. any redress, or a
‘satlafaotory explanation. Either the
price of the Boston and Albon is un-
reasonably low. or that of tho moll-
