everywhere that in this great Republic
justice has not yet sheathed her sword.

Averdict 0! not guilty having been
rendered. James and Walter Malicy and
Blanche Douglass are set free. and the
mystery of Jennie Cramers death is as
mt ll ever. Lawyers for the state in
this case seem to have reversed the old
adage “Be slow to promise, but quick to
perform.“ for following their theories. so
many witnesses were produced and kept
on the stand so long that a jury of plain
matter of fact men not much acquainted
with science were hefoggod and wooded
by the details. While it could not be
proved. those jurymcn evidently felt the
accused were indirectly if not otherwise
guilty of the crime charged. Anxious
to end a sort of eternity of court room
waiting. and feeling it incumbent on
them to obey the law and respect thcir
oaths to the eflect that. “If there is
reasonable doubt as to the guilt of the
accused to give them the benefit. 0! the
doubt.“ they made short work of it
when the case was submitted. Could
the evidence. arguments and all have
buugiven within one week instead of
being extended to near Three months,
there is little doubt the accused would
