Caught on the Fly.
Just before noon. Wednesday. Mr.
Frank Stevens received a telephone mes-
froru Sherman‘s livery stable. South
Norwaik. imforrning him that a party of
three had just hired a team to go to
Fisher‘s. this town. and it was suspected
they intended to cro- the line into New
York State. and requested that an ofloer
be called to arrest. Officer Hall was
summoned. and he was soon reinforced
h ' constables Nelson and Lockwood of
liorwaik. who were after the same game.

on investigation that one of them was
under arreet for assault and battery in
Norwaik. but had been rescued in some
way from otlicer Nelson by one of his
companions in the wagon. and the third
one. John Price. had volunteered to help
them scross the line out of harm's way.

them. but this was not to be thought of.
A struggle began. and after four officers.
ten men and a boy had landed him on
his back in the gutter the "durhles" were
put where they would do the most
and all three of the culprits were escorted
to the town‘s "reception rlor." Dur-
