this home. Here he resided the reminder
of his life. Here I“ his children. with the
exception of the oldest, were born. cud here
some of thorn still reside, the fomily now
consisting of thm daughters and 0 grand-
daughter. Thc oldclt living dlughtcr is
now ninety-four. This venerable woman,
though onfeebled by use. retains her mental
faculties in remarkable vigor, 0nd in: fresh
in memory many incident: connected with
the history of those exciting times. This
house, being on the outakirta of the nettle-
ment, wu supposed to be out of the wny of
the tor-lea who rouned the country for plun‘
dcr. Murry of the neighbors brought their
plate, furnily relics cud valuables here for
safety. But the house was dllcovcrcd and
oneevening a band came,plundered the house
and compelled Mrs. Mother to prepuc them
asupper; they then ordered the deacon to
accompany them to the water to prevent
his tucking their pretence known in the
community until they were u ufe distance
away. The genenl plan of the house has
been but little cit-aged. The old kitchen
fireplace, with the style of the finish of the
rooms, show how houses were constructed
one hundred years ago.
