In all the printed histories of the State of
Connecticut. and also the published histo-
rical records of the town prominence is
given only to the burning of the village of
Kora-elk. and the sutftirlaes. trials and he.
robin of some. and the treachery of others
of the cttlaens of the surrounding villages.
seem to have been lost sight of. There are
many inculcate of personal bravery and
daring of which no record can he found.
and but for the remarkable retentive meni-
cries of some of our oldest inhabitants. the
present generation would have no means of
knowing what was sutfhred and endured by
the original “ rebels“ of this country in ca.
