the others. The scene was interesting but
strikingly solemn. The occasion was it fine
illustration of the social and Christian spirit

to unite with the church in company with

—A funny incident took place in this city
on Tuesday morning. A sister of Rev. Mr.
Thomas arrived here from Boston on the
“owl” train. Shc proceeded to thc resi—
dence of her brother, tried the door, found it
unlocked, went in, and as it was yet dark,
concluded to retire without disturbing the
family. She made some noise in her move-
ments and the good pastor was slightly
aroused from his slumbcrs, and thought
burglars were breaking in. He did not rise
however, but on descending to the lower
floor in the morning, observed strange
looking apparel on chairs and tables. He
then thought burglars were in the house
sure, went for the neighbors, g9; them to-
gctber, took along Mr. James Russian. and
with this force returned, intending to make
search and ferret the thing out. Nothing
was found below stairs, but above, in a cer-
tain room, they found a woman in bed and
fast asleep. Mr. .Russell gallantly rushed
in, seized the unconscious occupant, who,
coming suddenly to herself and compre-
hending the situation, uttered a scream, and
