Two things were predicated of God's abili—
ty hero.
I. lie is able to keep you from falling.
Such a keeping all God‘s children need.
Such a kccping Christ asked they might
have. Such a keeping God had consented
to give. The ability required for that pur-
pose was not small. But God is able to do
it. To keep Ills people from falling rcquir»
ed God‘s must constant \vntchcarc and the
application of the most varied means. Let
Him ncglect us and we should fall. Let lIis
resources be short of infinite and inexhaust-
ablc and we could not stand. But His qual-

II. God‘s ability to make a final, faultless,
presentation of man before His glorious
presence.
Under this head the gradual character
of this verse was unfolded. God was
not only able to keep from falling but to
present man to Himself—to present 'him
faultless—to present him faultless before the
presence of His glory—to do this with ex—
ceeding joy. That. was declared the grand—
est triumph of divine power.
In conclusion Mr. Davies defended this
doctrine from abuse, and made an applica-
tion of it to three classes of persons: To
those in great sorrow; to those under great
burdens of anxiety; to those exposed to
great temptation.

But there is agiving that doth not im-
poverish us, and yet greatly enriches others.
It. is the giving of kind words and loving
looks. A short time since, when a class
were given their ideas of a useful life, all
seemed impressed with the idea of giving to
the poor. But only physical poverty was
considered. The class did not think of the
hungry hearts and thirsty spirits that meet
us everywhere, and with closed lips and
pleading eyes ask for the bread of life, and
that they they might drink of the fountains
of kindness and love. Oh that hunger is
most gnawing, that thirst is most insatiable,
for it isa hunger and thirst of the heart.
\\'c all know the power of a word or 5 00k
to brighten the burdens of life, and these
are gifts free as God's pure air and bright
sunshine. In such giving let us do it after a
princely sort.
