The Spring, as it advances with slow and
timid pace, will open each day some new
beauty with which to deck your lwely par-
ta-m. Flora with all her charming exotics
shall adorn the with robes more gorgeous
than Solomon's. Even now the morning
star of the spring-time, the dandelion, ar~
rays thee with its diadem of gold; even
now the blue‘ beneath reflects the blue ,
above. and decay clouds o'er-canopy thee.

That nature is bountiful inexhaustable,

undulating lawns, the waving trees the
softer breezes. and brilliantly tinted flowers
meet our view. and with eager steps we
enter within the gates that guard. for our
vex-Senator. his home treasures. Here na-
ture guided by the artistic band, shines with
added lustre. Our weary feet press the
velvet of the lawn, we scent the odor of the
blossoms, and hear the music of the birds.
All nature seems to have put on a gala dress,
and we rejoice that here and there in our
journeying we find what seems to ll< an
earthly paradise.

The case of John H. Keyser vs boob
Coe, the proprietor of the Goose Island Fish
Oil Works, bus at last been decided by the
United States Circuit‘Court in favor of the
plaintiff. The point at issue, upon the ap-
peal to this court, was whether the island is
withiuthe judicial district of Connecticut
or New York. The prosecution hm required
much patience end pluck. and a great deal
of h'umrical and judicial inmtigation; and
the community fire under heavy obligations
to fir. Kcyscr end his co-laborers in the
work. We condense from a brief report of
the decision, published in the New Haven
Journal, the following facts upon which the
decision rested:
The Warwick Patent in 1831 purports to
convey that part of New England which
lies and extends itself westward from the
Narragansett five, the space of forty
leagues by a sweep along the! river forty
leagues upon said line. and the islands ad~
jaeeut. The court thought this went one
hundred and twenty miles along the coast,
and all the islands adjacent.
Thirty-one years afterward Charles II.
granted to the colony of Connecticut a
charter giving, as a southern boundary, the
ocean -. and under this charter. Connecticut,
for a long time. held jurisdiction over Long
Island. But the subsequent charter to the
andrevived the question. if the “ sea.“ which
conafitutcdthe southern boundary of Con-
necticut, were not the Sound. Negodsiions
wen-entered into between the colony and
the Duke. which resulted .in the concession
of the jurisdiction of Long Island to the
