Veterans’ Hospital
NEW HAVEN. Dec. 16. —- The
federal government has definitely
decided to give up the operation of
the Veteran's Bureau hospital at Al.
lingiown. it was learned today. Un-
der the decision of the government
the lease on tho Alllngtown institu-
tion will be relinquished on June 30
of next year.
At present there are 210 soldier
pnilcnts in the Veteruns' hospital.
although this number was greater
in the first. three or four years after
the war. The hospital can accom-
module "50 patients. an increase in
the number of beds being made
when the Veterans' bureau acquired
the lease of .the, property. Major
I. It. Wagner. of the U. 8. Army. a
physician. is in charge.
A No new patients are being admit-
ted to the Veterans' hospital and‘ the
present number will be gradually
decreased. The few remaining when
the lease is given up next June will
be transferred elsewhere.
The Alllngtown hospital as it has
been known will be taken ovcr‘by
the New Haven hospital on July I
when it will revert to its former
purpose as an institution for the
treatment of tuberculosis and main-
tained under the management of
the William Wirt Winchester Fund.
Since the close of the World War the
premises have been leased by the
Federal government and maintained
as a‘hospital for invalid war voter.

output in several inductrics, notably
textile and coal mining.

present year as. compared with the
