of selectmen in the Town Hall yes-
terday morning was occupied chief-
ly with routine business. The meet-
ing adjourned within a half hour of
opening. No building permits were
granted by the board this week.

of Max Bpeike. was filled last evc-

of Stamford, former prosecutor in

Two fire alarms were rung into
the stations last night within five.
minutes of each other. At 5:30. the
Noroton and Noroton Heights com-
panies were called to extinguish n
chimney fire in the homo of John
DeK. Bowen. Pear Tree Point road.
At 6:86. the Dnricn department
answered a call from the home of
Mrs. Harriet M. Staffers. Noroton
avenue and Middlesex road. where
fire had been caused by the ex-
plosion of an oil stove. In both
instances the damage was slight and
the blaze quickly extinguished.

men told her they had a letter for
her husband. When Adams came
