s The Scriptures tell us many interesting things about the Devil. They-say
of 'him, “Thou hast been in Eden, the garden of God.” (Ezekiel 28:13) No one
can deny this. We have the evidence all about us.-'

We know that it was in Eden that he told the first lie 7

. when he said to mother Eve, "Ye shall ndl surely die}; (Genesis 3:4) There
he became not only the first liar, but the first murderer: for it Was that lie .
which resulted in the slaying of our first parents. '

Our Lord J ésus said of him, “He was a murderer from the beginning, and
abode not in the truth, becauselthere is no truth in him. When he .spealfeth
a lie, (Greek, the lie), he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of
it (of the lie above mentibnod).”—Jolin 8:44.

The Scriptures say of Satan, “Thou sealest up the sum, fullof wisdom,
and perfect in beauty.” “Thou hast. walked up and down in the midst of the
stones offire. Then was perfect in thy ways from the day that‘fthouw‘ast
created, till iniquity was found in thee.” “Thine lieartw

There are some people who hold
themselves aloof from the Church
because of the “hyprocritos” they
see there. of course there are. It is-
luado up of all kinds 0. sinners. it is
Just possible and I think pretty cer-
tain there are more and greater hy-
pocrites and sinners outside of it. i
am sure that with some few excep-
tions the best men and women are
found in it.

None are perfect in every respect.
One is rich in out virtue and anoth-
er in another virtue “Whore two or
three are gathered together in my
name. there am I in the midst of
them," said the great spiritual load-
er of men. With all Its imperfections
there is no fellowship of men and
women where so much of the Christ
spirit can be found as in the fellow-
ship of the Church. It is the greatest
agency for the building of the finest
type of ulnn‘wod ml'I womanhood. It
falls often to accomplish this, and
womlcr. for it must overcome not
only the pull of the "world and the
”08h." but the still greater pull of
tho "dcvil" of indifference and laxity
in the average h'omo of today...
