WASHINGTON. —- Construction
costs decreased slightly during Octo-
ber. giving emphasis to a gradual
downward tendency they have been
crying during the past three
yars. The decrease last month was
due to a slight lowering of the aver-
age of wages in tho‘ building trades
and to a decline in the average of
prices paid by contractors for build-
ing materials. according to statistics
compiled by the Associated General
Contractors of America.
Since May. 1923. construction
costs hnvebeen meiing slowly but
consistently toward lower levels.
