For less pompous places, a small table with a sign of
explanation would probably do the trick.
It is rather annoying to people of more or less fastidious
habits, to suddenly find themselves “summed up" every time
they hop to put a ilnfir on the under edge of a table. .
A few ys-ago we were dining (when a meal passes the dol-
lar mark you are dining, not merely “eating”) in one of Nor-
walk’s popular restaurdnts, when we put one of our four hands
(there were two of us) under the table. -
Said hand, when withdrawn, was found to be stuck together.
Further investigation only resulted in other fingers and a few
cufla getting gummed up. .
Still further investigation on the under side of the table re-
vealed no less than 16 pieces of gum glued tlirc! What a inGSs‘y
place this world is becoming!
