The following statement is issued
today by the Charter Revision celli-
Shall the First. Second and Third
Taxing Districts call all of their utili-
ties and prupcriics to the city or
Norwalk?
The Charter Revision Committee
uppolntcd by Mayor Robins hold
public hearings in each ward of the
city and later adopted the following
resolutions:
1. That iill prcscnt taxing districts
be abolished and that the uvw Char.
ter provide for only one ’l‘uxlng Dis-
trict for the City.
2. That all assessments on prop-
erty be based on their fair market
value as required by law. and that
such value be determined by the lo-
cation of the property. nature and
extent of improvements thereon. and
that tho outlying phopcrtlcs. which
do not have the benefit of lights.
garbage collection and police and
tire protection be given due consid-
eration in their assessments for lack
of such improvements. -
3. That all Taxing Districts now
owning public utlltlcs. rcal estate or
guy other piopcriy be requested to
sell such utilities, real estate and
property to the City. upon such
terms as may be determined by
three disinterested non-resident ap-
rsisors. one to be named by the City
of Norwalk, one by the district otter-
ing the utility or utilities, real cs-
tats and property for sale, and the
third to be chosen by the other two.
