It is hard, indeed, to keep pace with the activities
of a boy at the “dangerous age.” It is practically im-
possible to curb and check youth's desire for life—-

In but few boys' 1s there any inborn desire for the
so-called‘ ‘bright lights.” Any healthy youth will .pre-
fer h basketball game to a drinking bout; an evening’ 5
fun v ith othe1 clean- minded youngsteis to the seduc-
tions of a ribald cabaret or third-rate pool-room.
To guide youth iiito the paths and habits that
build character and assure manhood, we must make it
EASY for our young men to turn to healthful recrea-
tion, congenial companionship, proper training of both
mind and bod y. .
Where would you rather have your boy spend his
evenings when he is not home than at the‘ ‘”Y ? He
will be glad to do this if YOU .yvill do YOUR part to
make it possible.
Today the Y. M. C. A. can not possibly serve more
than a fraction of the boys and men who need its help,
due to the existing limitations of space and facilities.
It' 1s over a quarter of a century ago since the p1esent
equipment was provided. The results have justified
every dollar 1nv ested. But another and better building
must now be provided if this character development 1n-
stitution is to measure up to the needs and opp01tuni-
ties before it. Churches, schools, 1esidence sections
public utilities, pavements, gas, electric, water, fire.
